يُعرض الليلة الخميس 13 نوفمبر ضمن عروض الجالا في مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي الـ46، الفيلم الروائي "بينما نتنفس" (تركيا) من إخراج سيموس ألتون، وذلك في تمام الساعة 9:00 مساءً على المسرح الكبير بدار الأوبرا المصرية.
تدور أحداث الفيلم في بلدة صغيرة تقع بمنطقة الأناضول خلال أوائل العقد الأول من القرن الحادي والعشرين، حيث تبدأ الطفلة إسما (10 سنوات)، في مواجهة انهيار عالمها الهادئ بعد أن يتسبب انفجار في مصنع قريب باندلاع حريق هائل لا يرحم. وبينما يغمر الدخان السام البلدة ويلوّث الأرض، تجد عائلتها نفسها في صراع من أجل البقاء، لتبدأ إسما في طرح أسئلة وجودية عن الحياة والموت والنجاة، في عمل يمزج بين الحس الإنساني والبعد الشعري والبيئي في آنٍ واحد.
يمثل فيلم "بينما نتنفس" التجربة الروائية الطويلة الأولى للمخرج سيموس ألتون، الذي تخرّج في قسم السينما والتلفزيون بجامعة إسطنبول بيلجي عام 2011. وقد طوّر ألتون مسيرة مهنية متنوّعة في مجالات الإعلانات التجارية والأفلام الوثائقية التلفزيونية والسرد السينمائي، مركّزًا في أعماله على القصص الإنسانية الحميمة والموضوعات الاجتماعية والسياسية.
وفي عام 2024، وبتمويل من وزارة الثقافة التركية، أنجز فيلمه الروائي الطويل الأول "بينما نتنفس"، الذي يعكس رؤيته الفنية القائمة على تأمل العلاقة بين الإنسان والطبيعة، وكيف يمكن للكارثة أن تكشف جوهر الإنسانية في أضعف لحظاتها.

يُعد مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي أحد أعرق المهرجانات في العالم العربي وأفريقيا، وأحد أبرز المهرجانات الدولية المعتمدة من الاتحاد الدولي للمنتجين (FIAPF). تأسس عام 1976، ويقام سنويًا تحت رعاية وزارة الثقافة. يحرص المهرجان في كل دورة على الجمع بين البعد الفني والبعد المهني، ما يجعله منصة رئيسية للحوار بين الثقافات وتعزيز حضور السينما العربية على الساحة الدولية.

Tonight: “As We Breathe” Screens within Gala Presentations at the Cairo International Film Festival
Tonight, Thursday, November 13, the feature film "As We Breathe" (Turkey), directed by Seyhmus Altun, will be screened as part of the Gala presentations of the 46th Cairo International Film Festival at 9:00 PM on the Grand Theatre stage of the Cairo Opera House.
Set in a small town in the Anatolian region during the early 2000s, the film follows Esma, a 10-year-old girl whose peaceful world begins to collapse after a devastating explosion at a nearby factory ignites an unrelenting fire. As toxic smoke envelops the town and contaminates the land, her family struggles to survive, and Esma begins to ask existential questions about life, death, and survival. The film merges a humanistic approach with poetic and environmental dimensions simultaneously.
“As We Breathe” marks the feature film directorial debut of Seyhmus Altun, who graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University’s Cinema and Television department in 2011. Altun has developed a diverse career in commercial advertising, television documentaries, and narrative cinema, focusing on intimate human stories and social and political themes.
In 2024, with funding from the Turkish Ministry of Culture, he completed his first feature film "As We Breathe," which reflects his artistic vision contemplating the relationship between humans and nature and how disaster reveals the essence of humanity in its most fragile moments.
